summer workshops.

Thank you to all of the participants who attended our Summer Workshop Series! We had so much fun working with everyone and sharing some of our Swish “secrets”.

Our hand-tied bouquet workshop was a colourful and lush affair. Participants learned about caring for fresh flowers before getting into the action and designing a custom bouquet using plump hydrangeas, fragrant eucalyptus, colourful roses, and exotic agapanthus. These girls were amazing; we were so impressed with their finished bouquets and artistic flair.

The ladies who attended our terrarium building workshop enjoyed the Swish workshop experience as they let their creative talents flow and designed lovely terrariums. After socializing, enjoying some snacks and shopping our boutique, the girls got down to work. The fresh terrariums combined plants, moss, natural elements, and a bit of bling; each terrarium was truly unique and gorgeous!

Stay tuned for our Fall Workshop Series! Want to book a private workshop for a girls’ night, special event, or corporate Christmas party? Give us a call and let us arrange an unforgettable night.

Marquee lights in the house!

Most people associate bright and beautiful marquee lights with historic theatre districts and grand hotels. The history of these lights is an interesting one. Initially, the marquee was used to advertise upcoming performances or star actors at a particular theatre in beautiful and ornate light art. Think Broadway in New York City or Radio City Music Hall. With the invention of the automobile, marquee light designs became more simplified with easy-to-read text in big, bold lettering. All kinds of businesses began to mimic the “marquee look”. Circuses and fairs adopted the fun and eclectic look as well. Often, the lights in marquees were made to flash and blink to attract as much attention as possible to the message being showcased.

neonboneyard4People are intrigued by marquee lights and the eras the lights represent. The Neon Boneyard in Las Vegas is the perfect marquee light inspiration! The collection includes old neon signs dating back to the 1930s. Pieces at the museum are donated or reclaimed from old buildings being demolished. Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful.

Today, marquee lights are found virtually everywhere. Interior designers have re-imagined a place for marquee lights in the designs of baby rooms, kitchens, and man caves. We have customers who showcase marquee lights in their living rooms and lake cabins!Marquee Graveyard
